Last week, we wrote about how the national institution that is The Late Late Show has been revived by the programmes they've put on during the coronavirus lockdown.
Once again last night, the show did a great national service when Ryan Tubridy attempted to puts names and faces to those who have sadly lost their lives due to Covid-19 and are so often seen as simply a daily statistic.
“We cannot, cannot, must not ever forget that behind each number is a real person , a real person who lived their best life until the end”.#LateLate pic.twitter.com/bbZZYL5Qub

Among the other services the Late Late Show has been providing in recent week have been the provision of a much needed fundraising platform for Irish charities unable to raise money in traditional ways, and bringing on Ireland's greatest musical acts who've a tendency to give performances that somehow always tend to capture the mood and emotions of a nation.
Last night's episode had both of these aspects in full flow with the appearance of Dermot Kennedy. The Dublin signer followed Hozier, Glen Hansard, Gavin James, and Danny O'Reilly in recent weeks, and performed on the show as well as talking to Ryan Tubridy about The Capuchin Day Centre.
The Capuchin Day Centre in Bow Street in Dublin is a centre for the homeless and needy in the city, providing over 700 meals each day and over 1500 food parcels each week.
In their honour, and to encourage people to donate at Capuchindaycentre.ie, Kennedy performed three songs on the show, including a version of Van Morrison's Days Like This that was memorable.
The reaction to Kennedy's performance was gushing. We particularly like this idea from Adam Higgins!
The Late Late Show during COVID19:
Hozier - Parting Glass
Gavin James - Over the Rainbow
Coronas - Heroes or Ghosts
Glen Hansard - Falling Slowly
Dermot Kennedy - Days Like This
I really hope they make a charity album out of all these. Its been brilliant.— Adam Higgins (@Adam_Higgins27) April 24, 2020
