"Me back box is brutalised"
The Irish film industry has no doubt had a tough 18 months, but we're starting to see some great homegrown films come out. We all need a good comedy right about now, and luckily a Finglas's answer to Barbershop is hitting cinemas one month from today.
Deadly Cuts follows the story of a group of Dublin hair stylists working at a hair salon of the same name.
It's not all plain sailing however. This salon has bigger issues - most notably with a local gang that's terrorising the neighbourhood.
The unsung heroes of Deadly Cuts end up becoming accidental vigilantes as they challenge the gang for the good of the community.
The trailer gives a pretty good sense of what you'll be getting in the film. Comedian Enya Martin is getting her hair done as she moans, "I'm like a piebald in Finglas so I am, ridden ragged."
Deadly Cuts features a slew of talented actors from Irish dramas with the likes of of Ericka Roe from Dublin Murders, Shauna Higgins from Red Rock and Lauren Larkin from Love/Hate all co-starring. Pauline McLynn, aka Mrs Doyle from Father Ted is also on hand to stoke Northside/Southside tensions.
The film is a debut piece from writer and director Rachel Carey, and closed out the Dublin International Film Festival this past March.
Deadly Cuts is set for a full release on October 8th in cinemas nationwide.
