Irish comedian David O'Doherty is embarking on a series of bike journeys for the purposes of a new Channel 4 series - and the title of it is impeccable.
O'Doherty's new series will see him head out on bike rides with numerous other comedians - and it is very aptly titled The Ride.
David O'Doherty to lead new cycling chat show
David O'Doherty, who has appeared on the likes of 8 Out Of 10 Cats and QI, will lead the new Channel 4 series, which will see four hour-long episodes.
Across the course of the season, O'Doherty will embark on bike rides towards national landmarks on the British mainland. He will have a special guest for each journey - with Richard Ayoade, Joe Wilkinson, Grayson Perry, and Mel Giedroyc all lined up for appearances.
O'Doherty explained in the press release about the series that the idea for it was his - and that the concept was inspired by swimming against the tide of "very fit" people taking up space on television shows.
I think we've all seen enough of very fit cyclists racing up mountains and whooshing round tracks on our televisions.
Now it's time for quite out-of-shape people getting lost as they pedal towards a beautiful landmark that’s supposed to be just over there.
This is not the first time O'Doherty has undertaken some cycling for a television show. In 2007, he attempted to cycle from Dublin to Galway for the RTÉ series The Modest Adventures of David O'Doherty.
The title for the show is the real highlight, though - and some on Twitter took issue when they realised that The Ride is only a provisional title.

We're still waiting for a provisional release date for The Ride, but the title and the guestlist alone already have us sold.
