Colin Farrell has undergone quite the transformation for the new Batman film. Playing the role of the iconic Batman villain the Penguin required Farrell to wear a prosthetic "fat suit" and the makeup applied to the Dubliner was quite something.
I cannot emphasise how FLAWLESS the prosthetics on Colin Farrell are in #TheBatman. They are so much better than any other transformative makeup I've ever seen. He is LOST in that role and I mean it in the best way possible. He is Penguin. Genuinely unbelievable. #TheBatmanMovie pic.twitter.com/ZXgXMFrQXI

The reception to Farrell's performance in The Batman has been hugely positive, and the Irishman deserves such praise for a transformative role.
Farrell took part in one of our favourite interview series this week, as he was treated to his very own First We Feast hot wings interview. He revealed which film it was that made him want to be an actor, in a very enjoyable half-hour interview.
Colin Farrell: Irishman reveals Steven Spielberg inspiration in brilliant Hot Ones interview
Irish actor Colin Farrell has featured in plenty of blockbusters over the last few years, with appearances in Fantastic Beasts, Dumbo, and The Gentlemen to boast in just the past six years.
This month's The Batman, however, looks to have trumped the lot of them, receiving a hugely positive critical reception.
To promote the film, in which Farrell plays the Penguin, he appeared on the iconic 'Hot Ones' interview series.
The series does exactly what it says on the tin. Guests spend half an hour eating chicken wings in a variety of hot sauces, leading to brilliant scenes of celebrated actors breaking down under the spiciness of the food in front of them.
Farrell's interview was just as entertaining as we'd hoped, and he spoke on plenty of great topics - including his love for 1950s cinema and Marilyn Monroe.
It was his answer to the final question that got us, however. The host revealed that Farrell had been inspired to take up a career in acting by the iconic 1982 film E.T., specifically lead actor Henry Thomas' performance.
Farrell was asked to describe "in as much detail as possible, in these most bizarre of circumstances," what it was that he loved so much about Steven Spielberg's classic film. Through a pained expression, as he grappled with the effects of his wings' spiciness, he effused about his love not only for E.T., but for Spielberg himself.
What I thought was remarkable at first when I saw it was the excitement of ET - a creature coming from a distant lane and all that. What I find more remarkable about it now is what a story it is about a broken family, much like Close Encounters of the Third Kind [another Spielberg classic].
I mean, Steven Spielberg has made some of the most entertaining films in the history of cinema, as far as I'm concerned. But, even when they're really entertaining, at their core there is some kind of emotional and psychological fracture going on.
The family in E.T. is in trouble and the feds walking through the forest...it's always the keys rattling. Those fucking keys haunted me any time I heard keys rattling as a kid! I was haunted.
It's magic. When they take off for the first time through that forest and they start flying...I got goosebumps, I got teary-eyed on the couch this Christmas. But that's my nostalgia and mortality and stuff, I'm sure of it!
So many reasons why it's a great film.
Steven Spielberg is undoubtedly one of the greatest Hollywood filmmakers of all time, and it's lovely to hear Colin Farrell giving him such praise.
Spielberg himself is in strong contention for a few Oscars at the upcoming Academy Awards for his 2021 film West Side Story. The remake of the iconic stage musical has been nominated for seven awards, including Best Picture, Best Director for Spielberg, and Best Supporting Actress for Ariana deBose as Anita.
Spielberg's long career has inspired many filmmakers, and we're sure that the praise from Farrell will make its way to the famed director.
