Coldplay's run of four sellout Croke Park gigs came to a close on Monday night with a spectacular show on Jones' Road.

The British band played four shows to over 82,000 people in GAA HQ on Thursday, Friday, Sunday and Monday to round off the European leg of their 'Music of the Spheres World Tour.' Frontman Chris Martin even thanked the GAA during Monday's gig for the usage of their famous stadium.

Martin had last week surprised Grafton Street pedestrians by appearing alongside Little Simz, Burna Boy, Elyanna and Tini for a live rendition of their new single 'We Pray,' which also got its live debut in Dublin.

However, there was little doubt what the most poignant moment of the epic run of concerts was.

On Sunday night, Coldplay invited the surviving members of Aslan on stage with them during an acoustic set deep in the midst of the Croke Park crowd.

In a moment which beautifully paid tribute to the memory of the late Christy Dignam, the two bands performed the anthemic 'Crazy World' together - backed by a choir of 82,000.

The former frontman of Aslan, Dignam died in June of last year after a decade-long battle with cancer. The iconic Irish singer's death left a major mark on the music scene both domestically and overseas.

Aslan have recently returned to touring, playing a set at the recent Electric Picnic festival in Laois.

Their powerful rendition of 'Crazy World' to a packed-out Croke Park was a poignant and emotional moment for those inside the stadium and following on social media.

Kiera Dignam, the daughter of the late Christy, has spoken about how much the gesture meant to the family of the iconic Aslan frontman.

Christy Dignam's daughter sends poignant message after Aslan and Coldplay's Croke Park tribute

Speaking to the Irish Mirror, Kiera Dignam thanked Coldplay for their "lovely" nod to the late Christy, saying it was special for a huge crowd to have belted out the iconic anthem.

We got a call on Sunday from some of Coldplay's staff just to invite us in and let us know that it was happening. It was nice to get a heads up because it's still very hard.

It was nice to see the tribute paid to him. Any tribute is nice and I think it is lovely that Coldplay wanted to give that nod to my dad. It's an Irish anthem and it's lovely that it got to be played in Croke Park.

Dignam, herself a professional singer, said that she was unable to attend the gigs despite an invite from Coldplay, though the Mirror go on to report that Christy's wife Kathryn was in attendance for the powerful moment.

I didn’t go. I didn’t decline as such but I was down in Wexford at the time when I got the call. I’ve seen the video being shared.

Of course it is always going to be weird without him.

Coldplay once again brought Aslan out on stage on Monday night for their final Croke Park concert, with yet another packed out crowd belting out one of the country's favourite songs.

150,000+ singing along to 'Crazy World.' It's a tribute truly befitting of the great Christy Dignam.
