The funeral of Aslan frontman Christy Dignam drew huge crowds on Saturday morning, as mourners paid tributes to one of modern Ireland's greatest and most beloved musicians.
Dignam died earlier this week at the age of just 63, after a long battle with cancer. He had been placed in palliative care late last year due to his progressing condition, and the notice of his death from his family noted that he had passed "at home, as was his wish, on Tuesday, the 13th of June, in the loving care of his family."
President Michael D Higgins led the tributes to the immortal rocker, who leaves behind a massive legacy in the world of Irish music.
Dignam's funeral took place on Saturday morning, and touching footage showed the immense crowd showing their affection for the Aslan man with a beautiful rendition of their anthem 'This Is.'

Dignam's cortege would eventually stop at Erin's Isle GAA Club, where a video tribute to him was played.
Alongside 'Crazy World,' the song for which Dignam is perhaps most likely to be remembered is the Aslan anthem 'This Is,' the first song publicly released by the group in 1986.
In the video tribute for Christy Dignam which was played in Finglas on Saturday morning, several different performances of 'This Is' were mixed together, culminating in footage and audio of the iconic Vicar Street performance which has been remembered so fondly this past week.
Footage shared by RTÉ reporter Samantha Libreri showed the powerful scenes, as "thousands" of people lined the streets to pay tribute to Dignam, and sang along to one of Ireland's favourite songs.
