Christmas ahoy! We're now in week two of Decemberfest with Captain Morgan on Balls.ie, where we are celebrating the Christmas season with event guides and ticket giveaways to ensure you and your crew are truly enjoying the most wonderful time of the year.
With so many gigs happening around the country this month Captain Morgan is here to help with our weekly event guide, pinpointing some of the standout performers across music and comedy. This week we've picked out five more acts that your crew are bound to love.
Foil, Arms and Hog
Vicar Street, Dublin, 11 and 15 December
You'd have to have been living under a rock to have not heard of Foil, Arms and Hog by this point. The comedy trio's weekly videos are one of the highlights of Irish social media and they're actually even better live. With lots of stand-up comedy gigs on throughout December, their sketch format offers something a little different and will have you and the crew in knots of laughter.
They play Vicar Street on both Wednesday and Sunday night at 8.30pm with tickets costing €30.
David Keenan
Roisin Dubh, Galway, Friday 13 December
An adept purveyor of narrative songwriting, David Keenan arrives in Galway in anticipation of the release of his debut album 'A Beginner's Guide To Bravery'. The Dundalk man brings a visceral live show with his lyrics at the heart of everything. Keenan toes the line between being one man and a guitar to an orchestrator of his band.
Tickets to the gig - which starts at 8pm in the Roisin Dubh - cost €23.
Detriot Swindle
The Button Factory, Dublin Friday 13 December
Hidden Agenda bring Detroit Swindle back to Dublin. The electronic house duo bring their eclectic DJ stylings to the Button Factory, not constricting themselves to genre when playing. If you go to see the Dutch duo, expect to hear everything from obscure disco to afro-funk, all the while dancing to your heart's content.
Tickets are €15 and it all kicks off in the Button Factory at 11pm on Friday.
HamsandwicH
Whelans, Dublin, 13 and 14 December
HamsandwicH are playing not once but twice in Whelans over the next seven days as part of a pre-Christmas tour that is taking them across the length and breadth of Ireland. The indie rock group have one of the most unique sounds in Irish music and are frankly an incredible live act. Make it your mission to check them out.
The gig is at 8.30pm on both nights with tickets priced at €25.
Hermitage Green
Black Box, Galway, Saturday 14 December
Fresh from a packed few days of gigs in Cork, Hermitage Green will be taking a trip up the west coast to play in The Black Box Theatre in Galway on Saturday. Together nine years now, the lads blend rock and folk styles together for a really enjoyable live experience.
Tickets are €31.20 with the gig starting 7.30pm.
