Savage news today for anyone nostalgic for recent Irish life before the 2020 pandemic year. RTÉ have today confirmed a new decade of Reeling In The Years will premiere next month.
The iconic RTE programme will fill the gap between 2010 and 2019 by launching ten new episodes to include the decade that encompassed the Queen's visit to Dublin, Obama's visit to Dublin and the Pope's visit to Dublin, as well the curious rise of Crystal Swing.
Viewers will get to see Stephen Cluxton lift Sam Maguire seven times in ten episodes.
Reeling In The Years is arguably the most important programme RTÉ have ever produced, as it defines short-term cultural memory. Producer John O'Regan said:
‘The end of a decade is a natural time to look back. We made the Nineties series in 2000, the Noughties series in 2010, and now we’re adding another 10 years to the collection. We’re pleased to offer viewers this latest selection of music and moments from RTÉ’s archives, starting Sunday 11 April on RTÉ One.’
