A Belfast Magistrates Court has ruled that Ulster and Ireland rugby players Paddy Jackson and Stuart Olding are to stand trial on charges of rape.

Jackson (25) and Olding (24) are accused of raping the same woman in June of last year.

Both men attended a committal hearing today, where the court heard submissions from both the prosecution and the defence. The judge, District Judge George Conner, ruled that the evidence available is strong enough to proceed to trial.

The accused were released on continuing bail of £500. A date for the trial has yet to be fixed.

Both men deny all charges. Both the IRFU and Ulster Rugby have said the two players won't be considered for selection until the case is concluded.
