RTÉ confirmed this morning that legendary broadcaster Jimmy Magee has passed away at the age of 82.
He had been ill for some time.

Magee was a fixture of RTÉ's sports coverage through the years, starting with the national broadcaster in 1956. He worked at 10 Olympic Games and 11 World Cups.

One of his most famous commentary moments was at the 1986 World Cup for Maradona's 'Greatest goal of all-time' against England.
