The game was played in terrific spirit, but the highlight was Jabeur's stunning point in the fifth game of the second set. After a terrific rally of backhands, the point appeared lost as Maria hit the ball deep to Jabeur's right.

Incredibly, Jabeur managed to muster enough power to blast the ball past Maria and win a sensational point.

I don't know what to say, it's a dream coming true from years and years of sacrifice, so I'm really happy. I'll continue for one more match now!

I'm a proud Tunisian woman standing here today. I know in Tunisia they are going crazy! I'll try to inspire as much as I can - I want to see more and more...not just Tunisian, Arab, African players on tour...I just love the game and I want to share this experience with them. I see the juniors playing here, they are 14 and I hope they grow up and play here on Centre Court.

Jabeur also praised her close friend Maria for her contribution to the game.

I definitely wanted to share the moment with her at the end, because she is an inspiration for so many players, including me. Coming back after having two babies, I can't believe how she did it!

Ons Jabeur will now play either 2019 champion Simona Halep or Elena Rybakina in Saturday's Wimbledon final. She will hope to make further history on Centre Court.
