In the early hours of this morning, we may have witnessed the changing of the guard in US Tennis. For the first time ever Serena Williams was beaten by a US woman who was younger than her. Sloane Stephens is only 19 years old, and is the best prospect to come out of the US since the Williams sisters
She entered the Australian open as 29th seed, and now faces top seed and defending champion Victoria Azarenka in the semi. Hopefully today's massive win won't take too much out of her. As you can see in this video, it certainly wasn't easy;

What makes her different from any other up and coming tennis players? Well she's American for a start. While Europeans have dominated for the past decade, it's pretty clear that women's tennis needs a US star and the Williams girls won't play forever.
And unlike the Williams girls, Sloane seems to be an approachable kid who's enjoying playing tennis. Earlier thise week she have away tickets on her twitter account and this is how she pumped herself up for the biggest win of her life;
"This morning when I got up, I was like, 'Look, dude, like, you can do this. Like, go out and play and do your best,'"
What's not to like about the girl?
