Tennis fans in Flushing Meadows were treated to an incredible moment of magic during the first round of the US Open. Croatia's Ivan Dodig was a rank outsider against 19th seed Feliciano Lopez. However, as this clip shows, Dodig was not prepared to just roll over and take a beating.
Towards the end of the second set, the Croatian sensation's strong service forced the Spaniard to make a short slice, enticing him to move into the net. Dodig returned with an embarrassingly poor attempt at a drop shot which gave his opponent ample time to recover and make a relatively easy lob. Dodig was not ready to give up yet. He made a dash to the baseline where he produced a magnificent hot dog lob winner to claim the point.
Dodig eventually rolled over and gave up in the fifth set, retiring with cramps.
