Roger Federer was midway through his speech following his sixth Australian Open title victory when his voice started to wobble.
It was just as he mentioned the fans that there was a minor tremble. 30 seconds later, the tears began to roll down the 36-year-old's cheek as he thanked his team.
Federer had just won his 20th Grand Slam by defeating Croatian Marin Cilic in five sets at the Rod Laver Stadium. It wasn't exactly unknown territory for the Swiss. Still, it was an emotional moment.
The tears continued to roll as fans in attendance showed him exactly what he means to them.
I'M NOT CRYING, YOU'RE CRYING!
"You guys make me nervous. You guys make me practice. You guys fill the stadiums. Thank you."
