[tps_header]Rafael Nadal celebrated his 27th birthday this week at Roland Garros with a giant novelty birthday cake. Nadal's French Open birthday cake has become somewhat of a tradition over the years, with the cakes growing more and more outrageous. [/tps_header]
The 2006 effort wasn't too much to write home about. A simple strawberry sponge was overshadowed by an errant sparkler and Rafa's 'disaffected teenager' hair.
2007 was a much classier affair - just look at those chocolate tennis rackets.
In the autumn of 2008, the globe was plunged into financial armageddon. It comes as no wonder looking at this cake. We were all living way beyond our means.
There was no 2009 cake as Nadal lost out to Robin Soderling, but the 2010 effort was the biggest yet. If you know why it has an octopus on it, do let us know.
The 2011 cake was a bizarre three tiered monstrosity complete with sparklers and champagne.
This 2012 dessert raises just one question. What is that tennis racket made from?
This year's cake though takes the proverbial biscuit. Just look at the size of the thing.
