Carlos Alcaraz is arguably the best tennis player in the world at the moment. The Spaniard has been a phenom since breaking onto the scene and he is now the youngest player ever to reach major finals on all three surfaces after he beat Jannik Sinner to reach the French Open final.

At only 21 Alcaraz already has a fairly full trophy cabinet which includes last year's Wimbledon title and the US Open in 2022. He's a fan favourite and is seen as the heir to Rafael Nadal as the next Tennis superstar out of Spain.

One of his fans is 7-time major winner John McEnore who spoke highly of Alcaraz on Eurosport in the build-up to the final between Alcaraz and German Alexander Zverev.

I've got to say just for the record, I've said it before, Carlos Alcaraz is my favourite player to watch. He's the most skilled young man I've ever seen play at this age and hopefully, it's hard to imagine he can keep improving cause he's so good at everything already.

But he's better than Federer, Nadal and Djokovic at 21 to me.

McEnroe went to talk further about the happiness Alcaraz brings to the court and how he has the personality to be the future face of tennis.

So it's amazing and the biggest thing he brings is his smile that he brings to the court, that joy of competing which is so hard to be able to do, to enjoy it while you're stressing out at the same time. Look at Sinner, did he look like he was loving every second of it? No. Alcaraz is a unique individual that we need to keep around this sport for a long time.

Tennis has been dominated by the 'Big 4' of Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray for the best part of 20 years now and while they are retire or wind down their careers tennis needs new stars to rise. In Carlos Alcaraz they could have that star.
