Without ever really playing his best, Ronnie O'Sullivan progressed past the first round at the World Snooker Championship, beating Dave Gilbert 10-7.

After the match, O'Sullivan got himself in hot water when he chose not to fulfil his media duties.

In a tightly-contested eighth frame, O'Sullivan found himself snookered behind the yellow at the baulk end. With a shot - not quite as incredible as Ricky Walden's 'Superman' escape on Sunday - the five-time World Champion went off four cushions before hitting the one remaining red on the table. Handily, the cue ball then came to rest behind the black, meaning the pot was not on for Gilbert.
