In between giving advice about staying fit and why herbal teas are preferable to coffee, Ronnie O'Sullivan hinted on Twitter that he may not bother with this season's World Championships.
Action gets underway at the Crucible in mid-April but O'Sullivan suggested that he may give it a miss to instead film the second season of his History Channel show 'American Hustle'. The show follows O'Sullivan and sports broadcaster Matt Smith as they travel the US playing pool.
"I might do.. crucible goes on too long .. and it’s my least fav event of all.. plus I’ve got plenty ranking points so no need to play as much. Why not. Making Hustle is a right laugh crucible is boring plus I’ve ticked that box 5X," wrote the 42-year-old in reply to two fans.
O'Sullivan, a five-time World Champion, is having an excellent season and appears to be enjoying his snooker. Already, he has won the English Open, Shanghai Masters and the UK Championship.
Currently joint-favourite for the World Championship along with 2017 winner Mark Selby, O'Sullivan said the chance to close the gap on Stephen Hendry's record of seven world titles does not increase his desire to play.
Don’t matter mate.. who cares.. On my tomb stone it will say 5 worlds 8 worlds.. SO WHAT.. it’s what you experience while on this planet that counts.
