Mark Allen produced a big performance in the World Snooker Championship yesterday, playing some scintillating snooker en route to take a 9-7 advantage against four-time world champion John Higgins in their second round clash.
The two players went tit for tat over the course of the session, although Higgins did look as though he would build a healthy advantage at one stage after taking a 7-5 lead. However, his Northern Irish opponent would string together four frames on the spin to take a 9-7 lead at the end of the afternoon's play.

It put Allen in a strong position in the first to 13 match ahead of today's final session, with the player hoping to reach a sixth World Championship quarter-final of his career.

Fan ejected for shouting at Allen at World Snooker Championship
While most of the discussion after that session focused around the snooker played by Allen, there was one controversial moment involving a spectator during the day's play.
It came in the 13th frame of the match, when just as Allen was about to take a shot, a fan loudly shouted 'go on Mark' from the stands. The referee would go on to identify the culprit and have him escorted out of the venue.
You can watch the incident below.

Snooker has strict rules when it comes to making noise inside venues, especially when players are about to take a shot. This was certainly a very disrespectful incident, with Allen understandably upset about the conduct of the fan.
The decision to remove them from the Crucible was greeted with a round of applause from the other spectators on site.
The 38-year old would go on to win that frame, as well as the three that followed it before the end of the session.
