Former Irish Rugby great Willie Anderson has taken to social media to praise his son who designed Rihanna's Super Bowl outfit. Anderson, who captained his country on a number of occasions in the 1980s, has now passed the torch onto his son Johnny who has been in the news for very different reasons.

Johnathan Anderson is a fashion designer with his own clothing label as well as the creative director for Loewe. This years Super Bowl saw him travel to Arizona, designing clothes, Anderson was if nothing else successful in his venture as Rihanna appeared wearing his designs at half-time.

While the Super Bowl may be one of the biggest nights in the sports calendar, the half-time show is nearly as iconic as the football itself. This year it was Rihanna who took to the stage with an estimated 113 million people watching globally using the platform to announce her pregnancy. She did all this wearing Anderson's design, and Ireland great Willie couldn't resist expressing his pride on twitter.

Speaking to the BBC Johnny's dad Willie expressed his delight at his son bringing a small bit of Derry to the global stage - and rightly so. Designing anything for one of the most watched events in the world is no small feat and Willie clearly recognises this.

It was absolutely unbelievable. From our point of view, we are so proud and so delighted for him because he is a genius.

He's well regarded in the fashion industry throughout the world and the great thing about Jonathan is that he has kept his feet on the ground very much, that's what we love about him.

Johnathan was obviously as excited as his Father, taking to Loewe's Instagram to say it feels like a dream come true.
