We enjoy reading Jamie Heaslip's musing on mundane aspects of being a pro athlete in the Irish Times, but this week, Heaslip's post on pizza and Ray Foley was co-opted without prompting by anti-ROG commentor named Spencer Mitton, who raised annoyed Munster supporters ire to no end with these borderline libelous comments about the fly-half.
You might expect this kind of character assassination on a gutter website like Balls.ie, but not in Ireland's newspaper of record. Clearly, some comment moderator is asleep at the wheel down at Tara St. Regardless, a 40 commenter pile-on quickly ensued, with all, including Heaslip, rushing to defend the honour of ROG. Interestingly, our Spenno has priors. This is not his first anti-ROG post on the Irishtimes.com. He used Tommy Bowe's Lions blog to slam ROG after his bad tackle cost the Lions the second test. You'll find him around #72. Mitton clearly has his mind made up. I had thought Mitton might be a relation of Jonny Sexton, but clearly his hatred goes deeper than family loyalty.
