Current bookies favourite to replace Declan Kidney as Ireland head coach, Ewen McKenzie, has confirmed his interest in the job
.
"I have had no discussions with Ireland, I haven't heard anything from them. They haven't contacted me and I haven't contacted them, I have heard nothing in that space, I've only read things in the media.
I have said I am looking for coaching challenges at the next level, and I am looking for whatever the possibilities are. It's the type of job I am interested in looking at, but there have been no discussions."
McKenzie is the current head coach of Super 15 team, the Queensland Reds, who he won the competition with in 2011.
He recently became the most experienced coach in the history of Super Rugby, beating Robbie Deans' record of having coached 120 games.
His Queensland Reds currently lie 4th in the Super Rugby table with 5 wins from their 7 games so far this season.
