Ireland U20s were expected to roll over and take a hammering against the New Zealand 20s. The handicap line was 26.5; so for Ireland to be leading 20-14 - having dominated the proceedings tells us how brilliant they've been.
And they did it with a man in the bin for ten minutes too. With the game delicately poised at 7-6, and Ireland more than holding their own, the referee decided to bin hooker Adam McBurney for a deliberate knock on.
Except, it's more than a little harsh. It seemed that McBurney was trying to make a tackle, and the ball hits his hand.
Remarkably, even though New Zealand scored in the sin-bin period, Ireland came back and got a score of their own before McBurney came back. Greg Jones was on the end of a brilliant maul, and the Irish forwards are dominating.
