Ulster have started their Champions Cup campaign in the best possible fashion, securing a hard fought 17-16 win away at Bath. While the opposition had the majority of the ball, Ulster capitalised well on the limited opportunities they were presented with.
It may have been a big win for the Irish side, but that wasn't the most notable thing to come out of the game.
There's nothing quite like a referee doing something out of the ordinary to raise the spirits. The official for the Ulster game, Marius Mitrea, had a bit of an equipment failure in the second half.
His whistle stopped working, and it was absolutely hilarious.
"He's lost his pea! Has anyone seen a pea?!" 😂

This is brilliant...
Referee Marius Mitrea lost the pea for his whistle during the game and couldn't stop the play! 🤣 pic.twitter.com/aZCiEUfY6K— Rugby on BT Sport (@btsportrugby) November 16, 2019
We've all played on some sort of match in our youth where the referee didn't have a whistle, but to see it at the top level of sport is definitely a bit strange. Fair play to him for soldiering on.
This is the second biggest news story relating to a whistle of all time, coming in just behind the famous Craggy Island whistle theft of 1996.
