This Saturday's Champions Cup final between Leinster and Saracens will be a meeting of the two best sides in European rugby. With the biggest prize in the club game up for grabs, it is sure to be a titanic clash.
While there are a number of world class players in both sides, many have boiled this one down to a battle of the 'tens'. Johnny Sexton and Owen Farrell will be the key players for their teams, vocally leading their teammates as well as via their own example.
The winner of this final could come down to who performs better out of that pair, but who is the more complete player?
Speaking to BT Sport, Brian O'Driscoll weighed in on this very debate. He compared the players in five different categories, and he could hardly split the pair in any of them.
Owen Farrell or Johnny Sexton?
We quizzed Brian O'Driscoll on:
• Goal-kicking
• Defence
• Composure
• Vision
• Leadership
To see who comes out on top in the battle everyone is talking about 👊 pic.twitter.com/gjlLcWSsJY— Rugby on BT Sport (@btsportrugby) May 9, 2019
Interesting stuff. We really appreciate the sly dig about Owen Farrell's lack of tackling technique as well.
After watching that video, we aren't really any wiser to as to who O'Driscoll thinks is the better player. He struggled to split the two in most of the categories, and he would probably call it a draw in the end.
Perhaps we will get a clearer picture after Saturday's final.
