New Zealand schools rugby is mental.
Like something out of 'West Side Story', only with young men who are terrifyingly massive and extremely aggressive, a "haka battle" took place before Southland Boys took on Otago boys earlier this week.
Southland boys went first, and gave an impressive haka before their opponents huddled up, and responded with one of their own. The silence observed as both teams did their thing made for a truly spectacular occasion.
Haka battles are a thing, and we want to see more.
You can judge for yourself who came out on top before the action kicked off, but once the match was played it was Southland boys who emerged victorious, beating Otago for the first time in eight years thanks largely to this spectacular try:
Pace. Raw pace.
The final score was 32-19, and the name of that road-runner lookalike full-back was Kaleb Talamahina, someone you may want to keep an eye out for in coming years.
The size of some of those lads, just frightening.
