Ireland 27-3 Scotland. With three tries from Ireland's forwards, this was a game won by the pack. Furlong, Ryan and company laid down a marker from the first minute and Scotland could not live with the punishment. CJ Stander personified the beastly performance of the Ireland forwards with 9 tackles and 43 metres carried. Stander's place in the Ireland XV has come under serious pressure over the summer, and you could see how much the award meant to him when he was given the the Man of the Match. Stander was on the verge of tears and he choked up when talking about his feelings about the game.

It's beautiful sight to see Stander's face covered in grass and muck and the look of sheer delight on his face. Stander returned to 2016 form today in Yokohama. He relished the conditions and repeatedly barrelled through the Scotland gain line. Fans watching at home were loving it. If Ireland are to have any hope of beating the Springboks (or indeed the All Blacks) we'll need this version of CJ Stander.
Well done CJ Stander MotM he was outstanding today @IrishRugby but it must have been hard to pick MotM today as everyone stood up #IREvsSCO

CJ Stander with real tour de force display for Ireland. Took it to Scots up the guts from minute one. Dominant carries, huge tackle count. Cemented his place as first choice starter in back row. Key cog in relentless green machine! Onwards! #IREvsSCO #RWC2019 #Yokohama #LLSport

He shouldn't have needed it, but yet again today was serious vindication for Schmidt. Second rows were superb, CJ was savage, every key call proved correct.
