Connacht's unbeaten record in this year's Challenge Cup received its toughest test to date with the visit of Gloucester to the Sportsground today. Kieran Keane's side went behind early on after a line-out malfunction led to James Hanson touching down.
Connacht welcomed Bundee Aki and Kieran Marmion back into the squad after their Grand Slam exploits and they duly stepped up when needed, with both players grabbing tries early on. Aki's was a particularly impressive effort after a prop/second-row combo with Denis Buckley offloading for Tom McCartney to break away. Two plays later a clever off-load freed Aki to dot down.
In attendance at today's game was former head coach and Pro12 winner Pat Lam, who will be delighted to see his free-flowing ideology continued in the west.
