The image of Aylan Kurdi's body lying on a Turkish beach has no doubt been the most stark reminder that the refugee crisis is not going to solve itself overnight. The three year old Syrian drowned off the Turkish coast along with his brother and his mother as they tried to reach the Greek island of Kos.
The picture of Aylan's body has put increased pressure on European powers to do more to help the situation and Ireland is very much included in that situation. Donncha O'Callaghan, in his guise as a UNICEF spokesperson, spoke to RTÉ News yesterday and delivered a powerful message for the Irish nation to do more to help the situation.
