The Tralee native hit Brive fullback Romain Sola with a hefty and effective tackle less than five minutes into the game.
Connacht lost the match through a late penalty from Thomas Laranjeira.
The western province require a win against Russian side Enisei-STM on Saturday to secure qualification for the quarter-finals of the Challenge Cup.
