Earlier today Ulster and Ireland flanker Stephen Ferris sadly announced his retirement from rugby due to a recurring ankle injury. He made a touching statement to the Ulster Rugby website thanking his family, his teammates and those who assisted him throughout his career. As expected, the reaction to the news on Twitter was a mixture of sadness, sympathy and good wishes for the future.

Stephen Ferris has been forced to retire from rugby at just 28. Hugely disappointing but it seems like it was a long time coming.
