Quite a few Irish rugby players have made an impact at club level overseas down through the years, but few of them have put down roots in the same manner as Trevor Brennan.
The Leixlip native joined Toulouse from Leinster in 2002, going on to spend five hugely successful years in the south of France. He would play in three consecutive Heineken Cup finals from 2003-2005, winning two of them.
Brennan would remain on in France after his retirement in 2007, spending time as a coach with Toulouse and running a pub in the local area.

Rugby: Trevor Brennan enjoyed Top 14 scrap featuring his son
With Trevor Brennan staying in France with his family after retirement, his sons Daniel and Joshua began to quickly progress through the youth ranks at Toulouse. In fact, both would go on to represent France at U20 level.
While Daniel now plays for Brive, Joshua Brennan has made a breakthrough at Toulouse. He signed a contract last year that will keep him at the club until 2026.
Joshua Brennan was in action once again over the weekend, featuring in a 33-6 victory over Castres. He was very much in the thick of things, including during one scrap where he showed why he is a chip off the old block.
You can see him sporting no.7 in the black kit in the clip below.

Tel père, tel fils ? On dirait bien que c’est le cas pour cette famille de rugbymen 😂#TOP14 pic.twitter.com/GAotBFXqHK— TOP 14 Rugby (@top14rugby) March 4, 2024
As the official Top 14 account put it:
Like father, like son ? It seems that this is the case for this rugby family.
Trevor Brennan was certainly known for his combative approach on the rugby pitch, something that got him into trouble on one or two occasions over the course of his career.
Thankfully, this incident involving Joshua was a lot more light hearted.
The 22-year old has made 12 appearances for Toulouse in all competitions this season, half of which came as part of the starting XV.
