During his playing days, Trevor Brennan was beloved for his intense brand of rugby. While he forged that career on these shores, his two sons have done it in France, Trevor's adopted home.

The Brennan brothers, Daniel and Joshua, will face off this weekend when Toulouse and Toulon clash in a battle of French giants.

Despite both starting their careers in Toulouse, 26-year-old Daniel left the club for a failed move to Montpellier before rejuvenating his career with a stint in Brive . Now he's in his first season of what will hopefully be a fruitful career at one of French rugby's giants.

His younger brother Joshua has taken a more fast-tracked road to fame, racking up 60 caps, and earning his first call-up to the French senior squad for the upcoming November internationals this week

While both Brennan's represented France at U20s level, should Joshua see game time in the upcoming series he'll be the first of the pair to play at senior level.

Despite his father being an ardent Toulouse man, Daniel revealed that once both he and his brother are looking to beat people up their Dad won't mind.

If I'm on the pitch facing my brother, it will be a wonderful moment even if my mother won't like it. She'll be very stressed. My father will be proud but he doesn't care. He'll just come wanting us to beat everyone up (laughs).

You can put it this way: before, my father was the biggest pain in the ass in the world (laughs). We caught him with my brother and told him:  "You're annoying, stop eating away at us.

We have a lot of respect for our father, but it's not the same sport anymore. Today, my father would get a six-month suspension after five minutes of play (laughs)! For several years, he has taken a step back even if the passion is still there.

While Brennan admitted that he had regrets about leaving the club his brother played at and Dad prospered at, the lock said his Irish upbringing helped him get through it.

I thought someone had a grudge against me because I was so unlucky. I took refuge with my family, a little in faith too. I grew up in the Catholic religion. A real Irish education (smiles). These values were important to my grandfather. I have kept this heritage. It has been important to me. When I go to church, I take stock and I realize that despite everything… I am lucky!

Both Joshua and Daniel were born in Dublin while their father was playing with Leinster, however, his 2002 move to Toulouse saw the pair move to France at an early age. When Trevor retired in 2007, he and the kids remained in the city where his kids would go on to represent.

With any luck, the two brothers who are living out what is surely all brothers' dreams - permission to beat each other up - this weekend will deliver plenty more moments of magic.
