Leinster were underwhelming in their performance against Toulon at the Stade Mayol in Sunday's Heineken Cup quarter-final, capitulating 29-14. The result and an upcoming home semi-final against Munster in three weeks time was not enough to sate Toulon owner Mourad Boudjellal.
The comic book publisher took the post-match press conference due to Bernard Laporte's suspension and expressed his frustration towards what he felt was some biased refereeing by Wayne Barnes.
We were told there was one referee we had to avoid at all costs but tough luck. We understood we would be refereed by a ref who Leinster always seem to win with. I remember we played a Challenge Cup final with this referee a few years back and I remember before the game a number of French rugby executives were already celebrating our defeat.
We had controversial decisions against us in the past and, yes, I was afraid. I thought it would not be agreeable and I certainly didn't agree with all the decisions. The referee was indeed a bit biased.
Leinster always win with Wayne Barnes reffing, eh?
Leinster's last 6 HCup games with Wayne Barnes. Won 3, lost 3. Lost 3/4 against French sides.
