The financial might of Toulon, Racing Metro and Clermont Auvergne have managed to attract some of the best players in the world. The likes of Dan Carter, Ma'a Nonu, and Paul O'Connell are just three names who have been tempted to head to France after the World Cup - but according to Midi Olympique, they will be entering a tournament that will lose two of its best players.
Last year - Toulon signed Lions fullback Leigh Halfpenny, whilst Clermont signed his international team-mate Jonathan Davies. While Halfpenny managed to win a Champions Cup in his first year - it appears that both players are ready to leave:
According to Midi Olympique, Welsh centre Jonathan Davies has informed Clermont that he will cancel the third year of his contract. This would imply that he should see out the final year of his contract this season, before heading back home.
Halfpenny is in a similar situation, and he is looking to return home next June after seeing out the second year of his third year deal. Midi states that Halfpenny doesn't have a club lined up yet.
