This is shocking news to get of a Friday morning but yes the rumours are true, Tommy Bowe had grown a ten-week beard without telling anyone about it.
We've only just found out when it was too little late too late. The Ulsterman grew out his facial hair but now that he's back training, the beard has been given the chop.
Our verdict: it was a hasty and uncalled for decision. Gordon D'Arcy's beard was not available for comment when contacted and rumours that the beard was shaved off by a jealous Jonny Sexton, against Bowe's wishes, are yet to be confirmed.
