Irish based players accounted for the greatest proportion of selections on the Pro12 dream team but there was not one Leinster player among them.
The team was picked by a committee consisting of journalists from the four competing countries. Connacht is nicely represented with both Robbie Henshaw and Denis Buckley earning selection.
Here is the team selected:
Liam Williams (Scarlets), Tommy Seymour (Warriors), Robbie Henshaw (Connacht), Peter Horne (Warriors), Craig Gilroy (Ulster), Dan Biggar (Ospreys), Rhys Webb (Ospreys), Denis Buckley (Connacht), Rory Best (Ulster), WP Nel (Edinburgh), Alun Wyn Jones (Ospreys), Franco Van der Merwe (Ulster), CJ Stander (Munster), Tommy O'Donnell (Munster), Josh Strauss (Warriors)
The team is a further poke in the eye for Leinster following their unrelentingly depressing season, in which the only bright spot was a creditable semi-final appearance in the Champions Cup. And that was only possible because of a generally fortuitous draw.
They sit atop the Celtic League/Magners League/Pro12 Hall of Fame along with Ospreys. Both have four titles.
