If one was ever inclined to doubt the Irish nation's capacity for blind nationalism, the vote for the Vodafone Rugby play of the week should put an end to that.
The more naive among us anticiptated that we might see a foreigner win the poll for the first time this week. After all, for all their huffing and puffing, Ireland failed to register a try last Saturday.
And this in a weekend when Tevita Kuridrani executed the most extraordinary finish in the corner against France in Paris, when Malakai Fekitoa touched down after a delightful move for the All-Blacks' delightful opening against Ireland, and when Beauden Barrett adorned a marvellous individual display by knifing through the Irish midfield to touch down (so the TMO thought).
We felt obliged to nominate at least one Irish play after an admirable team performance on Saturday. Thus, we included Tadhg Furlong's bullocking run in the middle of the field in the first half.
Ladies and gentlemen, we give you the results of the poll.
5. Habana try against Italy (2%)
Another miserable day for South African rugby and there's been a fair few in the past two years. Habana touched down very early in the corner in Florence and the hosts' quiet confidence might have shaken. But they bounced back to inflict a historic defeat on their illustrious visitors.
Polled poorly, pulling in 2%. Even South Africans would be disinclined to vote for their man in this shortlist.
The @Springboks' @BryanHabana notches his 67th Test try against @Federugby - now just two short of all-time record. https://t.co/fFLPs1uehE

4. Fekitoa's try in the Aviva (3%)
Another weak vote. The greater New Zealand traffic on Irish websites this week might account for this admittedly delightful score even racking up 3%.
Broadly speaking, Irish fans didn't want to talk about Fekitoa at all this week unless the conversation was about his high tackle. Never mind his gorgeous try. Beauden Barrett again deserves plenty of credit here.
New Zealand take an early lead as Fekitoa crosses over in the corner. https://t.co/QSySBPi6Q4

3. Barrett score against Ireland (10%)
Perhaps out of reverance for Beauden Barrett's majestic individual display against Ireland, not to mention his gracious post-match interview, he secured what was an impressive 10% in the context.
Polled surprisingly well, if we're being honest, given the controversy that attended the try and his cocky determination to goad Johnny Sexton as he crossed the line.
Controversial second try for New Zealand as the referee says he saw the ball grounded, but........... https://t.co/nZLbxBjTQ0

2. Kuridrani's try (11%)
This staggering finish from Tevita Kuridrani in Australia's win over France might well have been the neutral's favourite.
Shockingly, it drew in only 11% of the vote. This spectacular bit of acrobatic finishing may well be shown again and again but it fell miserably short this time.
Better luck us next time Tevita. Wow us more is what we're saying, basically.
1. Tadhg Furlong (74%)
There's only one word needed in response to the rugby hipsters who are wearily shaking their heads at the results of this poll.
Democracy.
The word "landslide" doesn't even cover the extent of this victory. In a five play race, Furlong's rampaging run claimed just shy of three-quarters of all votes.
There are quasi-dictators in sham democracies that have taken in less votes than that.
Yes, the resounding winner in this week's Rugby Play of the Week poll is Tadhg Furlong's bullocking charge in the first half last week. Did the heart good to see him knocking a couple of All-Black defenders of their backsides.
