As many on the island watched the association football on RTE, there was action from another code on TG4. Connacht travelled to Ravenhill, attempting to end 57 years of defeat away to Ulster.
There was no joy as the disappointing start to the season under new head coach Kieran Keane continued for Connacht. A 16-8 defeat means it is now 35 consecutive away defeats for Connacht against Ulster.
Key in Ulster's victory was a superb 56th minute counter-attacking try. It was Charles Piutau and Jacob Stockdale combine for a move which started just outside the Ulster 22 and ended with Stockdale touching down under the posts.
Ulster led 9-8 prior to the try.
