The URC is back this weekend and it promises to continue its run as one of Europe's most unpredictable leagues.
No team is yet to retain the URC title since the rebranding in 2021 and no country has retained it either.
After a disappointing end for the Irish provinces last season with both Leinster and Munster going out in the semifinals all four will be looking to bring the URC title back to Ireland.
Speaking as part of the Build Up with Ladbrokes, retired player Stephen Ferris shared his thoughts on the upcoming United Rugby Championship, highlighting the players to watch out for in each of the four Irish provinces.
Ulster: Zac Ward Takes Centre Stage
According to Ferris, Ulster has undergone significant changes, with many high-profile names leaving the club and few new signings.
However, one player who has caught his attention is Zac Ward, who impressed at the Olympics.
He was unbelievable, arguably Ireland's best player,
His athletic ability has taken over, and all the coaches have been raving about the positive influence he's had.
With him also being a part of the Emerging Ireland squad for their tour to South Africa, Zac Ward is definitely one to watch this season.

Leinster: Ciarán Frawley is the Main Man
When it comes to Leinster, Stephen Ferris is adamant that there's only one name to focus on, Ciarán Frawley.
I think it's been Ciarán Frawley for the last 5 years,
Frawley has been many people's choice for the 10 jersey in this post-Sexton era for Leinster and although he's had limited time in the position he's backed up the approval.
Frawley's impressive performance in the Champions Cup final, where he nearly won the game with an emphatic drop goal as well as well as his test-winning drop goal against the Springboks in July has cemented his status as a player to watch.
Ireland fans, we’ve added Zombie to Ciaran Frawley’s drop goal.

Munster: The Edogbo Brothers Make an Impact
Ferris has picked the Edogbo brothers Edwin, who has been out injured and Sean, who has shone for the Ireland U20s, as one to watch at Munster.
Edwin's a serious player, and I'm also going to mention his brother, Sean,
Although Edwin may not have a huge impact at the start of the season, Ferris believes that both brothers are extremely talented athletes worth keeping an eye on.
Connacht: Santiago Cordero's Time to Shine
At Connacht, Ferris has chosen Santiago Cordero, who has over 50 caps for Argentina, as his player to watch.
He can really make an impact when called upon, and for him, this is a huge year,
With Cordero only signing a two-year deal with Connacht, this season is crucial for him to make his mark after missing basically all of last season through injury.
With Mack Hansen also hoping to remain fit this campaign, Connacht could have a formidable backfield this season.
The Four Provinces' Chances in the United Rugby Championship
Stephen Ferris believes that Leinster should finish in the top 2, but the other provinces are getting stronger. "Ulster might be seen as a sinking ship, but I see them getting into the top 8," he predicted.
Connacht has made some signings, but no big-name ones, while Munster had a disappointing end to last season.
Ferris' ranking of the four provinces is:
- Leinster
- Ulster
- Munster
- Connacht
However, he's confident that all four provinces will finish in the top 8 this season.
Overall, Ferris' insights provide a fascinating glimpse into the upcoming United Rugby Championship, highlighting the players who could make a significant impact and the provinces' chances of success.
