Matt Williams tore into the Scottish side after their disappointing Six Nations loss to Wales on Saturday.
Speaking on Virgin Sport after the game, he criticised Scotland’s inability to back up their talk of being a side that are capable of competing for the Six Nations trophy.
This talk he believes comes from Scotland themselves, and that they should ‘shut up’ until they can back it up with results on the pitch.
"They just gotta shut up. Until they actually action out, and live their talk, they've got to shut up. They've been making fools of themselves."

I think the talk about it being their year was coming from the Scotland camp. Again they’ve just got to shut up.
Until they action out and actually live their talk they’ve got to shut up because they’re making fools of themselves. Because they’ve done this about four years in a row, they win a couple of biggies and then the next week they lose.
And each time they come out and say oh we’re going to win we’re a great side, and they’re not doing themselves any favours in the rugby world. They’ve just got to stop the talk, tone it down and live it.
Williams had an infamous stint between 2003 and 2005 as head coach of Scotland, where his dismal record was the worst of any Scottish coach in the professional era.
During his reign Scotland won just three games, and only one Six Nations match. Despite his shocking return as a coach he was recently critical of the Scottish set up at that time.
He also controversially dropped Scottish legend and current Scottish head coach Gregor Townsend from his first squad, when Townsend was still only 30 years of age.
It is unclear, however, whether this bad blood has influenced Williams’ opinions, as his co-pundit Rob Kearney agreed with his views.
“They’re so inconsistent and then they’ll probably go and do another Scottish thing and potentially turn France over in Murrayfield,” Kearney stated.
“They’re just full of hot air.”
Irish fans will be praying that Kearney’s prediction comes true as France look likely to win this year’s Six Nations Championship unless one of Scotland, England, or Wales can cause an upset.
