Photombombing is the new craze. Enda Kenny, David Moyes and now Brian O'Driscoll have made it so. It's a very modern phenomenon of course. No doubt there are numerous studies on it in the States. (There's always a study in the States.) Icons from other eras never bothered with it. You don't see any famous instances of photobombing from the Victorian era. Michael Collins didn't creep up behind Eamon De Valera with bunny ears when he was getting his photo taken. Had he done so it might have cooled some tensions and taken the sting out of the Civil War...
Anyway, rugby fan Anne Marie Stone was getting a photo with Rob Kearney and Brian O'Driscoll crept up behind them. It is not a Watergate style story and it will not rock the foundations of the state to its core but it is a good, old-fashioned, no frills photobombing. A classic of the genre.
