Sam Burgess put an end to his short stint in Rugby Union earlier today when he announced that he'll be returning to play for the South Sydney Rabbitohs in Australia's NRL.
It puts an end to his short career in Rugby Union where he was largely scapegoated for England's shocking performance.
Many have been sympathetic to "Slammin' Sam" saying he was treated poorly and never given a fair chance in union, whereas others have been quick to criticise the convert for quitting the sport so early and not giving it a fair crack at the whip.
Here's the best of the Twitter reaction.
Please stop the Burgess victim/betrayal line Selection errors were made. His decisions to come & go, which I don't criticise, were his own.

Too much sympathy for @SamBurgess8 He's an adult, no fool, and gladly went along for the ride. If truly committed he'd still be @bathrugby

@Rugbyworldmag Burgess as over-hyped as he was unsuccessful. One good reason to illustrate Lancaster's poor judgement - Sam Burgess

Sam Burgess has left Bath. What a waste of a World Cup place. And no consolation at all for those more deserving. pic.twitter.com/9OySF7rg5h
