Scotland number 8 Ryan Wilson has been cleared of any misconduct regarding an alleged eye-gouging of England’s Nathan Hughes and is available for their trip to Dublin to face Ireland.
During Scotland's victory against England, Wilson and Hughes were involved in an off-the-ball incident shortly before half-time. However, the contact has been declared as“light and fleeting” and “reckless rather than intentional” clearing Wilson of any wrongdoing.
Hughes appeared to pin Wilson to the ground during the incident and the Glasgow Warriors player reacted by attempting to push Hughes off him. A pre-existing injury on his hand was given as a reason for no subsequent punishment.
Wilson was very impressive during the win, as Scotland's more mobile back-row dominated their English counterparts and set the platform for a surprising 25-13 win. His availability is a big boost for Gregor Townsend as he prepares his side for crucial away trip.
As for Wilson, he was cleared delighted by the decision.
