The Rugby World Cup final will take place this Saturday between South Africa and New Zealand at the Stade de France in Paris (kick-off: 8pm).

To assist with the pre-match build-up, World Rugby have enlisted none other than 2000s pop icon Mika, who will be performing a pre-game show, as well as the anthems.

The pop singer rose to international fame with his 2007 hit "Grace Kelly", while other songs such as "Lollipop" and "Relax, Take It Easy" were crowd favourites.

Mika will also be joined by the children of la Maîtrise Populaire de l’Opéra.

Rugby World Cup organisers came in for a lot of criticism after France's anthem in their opening game was butchered horribly, while fans also complained about the 'creepiness' of the children's choirs.

I am thrilled to be a part of this final match of Rugby World Cup 2023," the singer said

"The aim of this show is to create a flash of good energy, to spread love, colour and joy with the kids of la Maîtrise Populaire de l’Opéra Comique so that everyone can enjoy the anthems and an amazing match of rugby with all the intensity it deserves."

"Rugby fans in the stadium and around the world will be able to experience a spectacular and colorful music show that will set the tone for an epic finale to the France 2023 journey.”

It was announced yesterday that English referee Wayne Barnes will be taking charge of the final, with Tom Foley as the Television Match Official.
