Ronan O'Gara has officially expressed interest in being part of the upcoming 2025 British & Irish Lions Tour to Australia.
O'Gara, who is currently head coach at La Rochelle, and probably the most sought after club coach in the world, has always been open to all sorts of coaching roles, and has spoken about his love to learn in new environments, in both rugby and elsewhere.
Ronan O'Gara 'Excited' About Prospect Of Coaching With The Lions
Speaking on Off The Ball this morning, he backed Andy Farrell for the head coach role with the Lions, but sounded very keen on being part of a potential coaching ticket with the Ireland boss.
Well it depends what role you're offered obviously. If you're the head coach you'd have to take a year on sabbatical, so that wouldn't work because of my commitment to La Rochelle.
But if there was a potential opening, depending on my willingness to show interest in it, the bosses here would be very open to see me in my best version.
My best version might be coaching with Andy Farrell with the Lions. That would be extremely exciting, I think.
I don't think reasonable people would put a stop to that.

Wales head coach, Warren Gatland, who has helmed the last three Lions tours, recently gave his blessing to Andy Farrell to take over with the historic combined test side.
"A few weeks ago, I was asked by Nigel Walker, Wales' director of rugby, if I was interested in putting my name forward to be head coach for the next tour in Australia in 2025", Gatland said.
"It did not take long to get back to him. I told him I was not going to put my name forward. I told Nigel that I would have no problem if any of my support staff were to be asked to be involved as I would see it as a great experience for them.
"But I think it is the opportunity now for someone else to be head coach and Andy Farrell would have my backing for the job."
