Ronan O'Gara says that if he was offered the job of Leinster backs coach, then he would take up the role.
Speaking on Newstalk's Off the Ball on Wednesday, O'Gara said that Munster head coach would be his dream job but if there was the be an offer forthcoming from the RDS then he would be amenable to taking it.
Do I take it? I haven't been offered it. Course I would [work for Leinster]. I see things very differently now.
Obviously Munster is my home, where I'd like to be head coach someday. But there will be big steps before you take that job, so for me there's an incredibly talented back-line in Leinster. Anyone who is serious about rugby would work with that backline.
Currently working with Racing Metro, the former Munster out-half says that his thinking in regard to working with Leinster has changed over the years.
Asked if he would have worked with the three-time Heineken Cup winners two years ago, O'Gara responded in the negative.
Of course not. No. That's an honest answer. It's the same in football with Manchester United or Liverpool players, they just don't make that transfer. I couldn't go play for Leinster.
Now that you've finished playing, you leave the country and you see things differently. You have a view that you want to progress as best you can as a coach. Whatever those steps are to be the best that you can be, you take them.
