Subtlety is something which Ronan O'Gara could never be accused of having in excess. Let's not forget that appearance on the Late Late Show earlier this year.
On Off The Ball on Wednesday night, Brian O'Driscoll told of an encounter between O'Gara and James Hook during the 2009 Six Nations.
Hook - arriving as a late call up to the Lions squad later that year - had a word with O'Driscoll regarding O'Gara.
People like James Hook. I remember going on the Lions tour in 2009 and I think he was a late call up. Hooky was having a quiet word with me, just when he'd arrived.
And he said 'I'm not sure Ronan O'Gara likes me'. I asked 'Why is that?' And he said 'Because he told he I'm the worst player he'd ever seen during the Six Nations'.
I just said 'No, no. He tells everyone that. Don't worry about it.'
It is a story which O'Driscoll has told before - also on Off The Ball. In May of this year, O'Driscoll said that O'Gara had actually told Hook he was 'fucking shit' during the Grand Slam decider of 2009.
Apparently, later on ROG could not remember the tête-à-tête with Hook and questioned 'why he's got an issue with me'.
