Robbie Henshaw is a Leinster player. That seems strange to write/say. But unfortunately, his debut for the boys in blue will have to wait.
Henshaw suffered a knee injury in the second test against South Africa that ruled him out of the final test. The Athlone back has now had to undergo surgery to fix the problem, and is slated for a recovery period of 14 weeks. That would bring him right up to the first weekend of the Champions Cup on October 14th.
Henshaw had cartilage repaired in his left knee, so it's likely that Leinster and the IRFU will ease him back into action before Ireland's full test window in November with two tests against New Zealand, and a test against Australia upcoming.
Henshaw is seen to be the replacement for Ben Te'o at Leinster - and this injury will force Cullen to play the likes of Luke Fitzgerald, Noel Reid, or Garry Ringrose in his place.
That's not the news that Ireland or Leinster wanted to hear.
