The long saga of who will Munster's Director of Rugby be is almost over. It's almost gone on as long as the David de Gea to Real Madrid rumours - but Munster Rugby look set to confirm John 'Rassie' Erasmus as the man to lead the southern province into a new era this week.
Murray Kinsella is reporting that Erasmus was in Limerick earlier this week to finalise a deal. Erasmus was rumoured to be the front-runner for the post as long ago as two weeks ago.
Now it seems that Munster have beaten the challenges from Harlequins and Japanese interest for Erasmus' services.
As mentioned previously, Erasmus has coaching experience in South Africa, and was a candidate for the Springbok coaching job before leaving the SARU over internal politics. He's likely to be a hands on director of rugby - so it remains to be seen how Anthony Foley fits in with the new system.
